Client: Fundy Ocean Research Center for Energy (FORCE)
Project: Tidal Energy Regulatory Framework
Location: Bay of Fundy, NS
FORCE has engaged Bluedot to provide ongoing environmental and regulatory advisory support for the development and testing of tidal energy projects at its Minas Passage test site. This work focuses on navigating Canadian environmental legislation, guiding Fisheries Act authorizations, and advising on strategic pathways to approval for prospective tidal developers. The scope includes facilitating engagement with Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) and First Nations, and developing practical guidance and frameworks to make permitting processes more efficient for tidal energy proponents. Bluedot also provides direct advisory services to projects such as the Eauclaire and Orbital Marine Power’s O2-X tidal device, supporting project-specific regulatory requirements, while advancing the long-term goal of responsible and sustainable tidal energy development.
