Listening to, learning from, and amplifying Indigenous voices

Bluedot operates on the traditional, unceded lands and waters of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), səl̓ilwətaɁɬ (Tsleil-Waututh), and Shishá7lh (Sechelt) Nations on the west coast and in Mi’kma’ki on the east coast. These Nations have occupied, governed, and stewarded these territories since time out of mind. We recognize the wealth of knowledge accumulated through ongoing connection to land, water and community and humbly pay respect to Indigenous Elders and stewards — past, present, and emerging.

We also acknowledge that these lands have never been ceded, surrendered, or sold, and the laws, stories, and responsibilities of these Nations continue to live here. Land acknowledgements must be more than words: as guests/settlers—whether recent or longstanding—we carry an obligation to reflect on how colonial systems continue to shape our institutions, practices, and relationships. Reconciliation is an ongoing process of learning, listening, and transformation rooted in Indigenous sovereignty and self-determination.

In this spirit, we commit to:

  • Building authentic, respectful relationships with the Nations in whose territories we operate.

  • Learning from Indigenous knowledge systems and governance models.

  • Uplifting Indigenous voices, priorities, and leadership in the work we do.

  • Taking concrete steps to decolonize our practices and structures.

This acknowledgement is a beginning, not an end. Our presence here demands humility, accountability, and action.
