Client: Matthews West

Project: Oceanfront Peninsula Shoreline Design & Permitting

Location: Squamish, BC

Matthews West is extending downtown Squamish onto the oceanfront peninsula with mixed-use neighbourhoods, a learning campus, light industrial space, and a 3-km waterfront trail. The program began with the 11-acre Sp’akw’us Feather Park and has continued with site-by-site foreshore design along Cattermole Slough and the Mamquam Blind Channel using green-shore, hybrid nature-based approaches.

Bluedot provides biological and regulatory input into foreshore planning; coordinates with coastal engineering, geotechnical, and landscape teams to incorporate green shoreline principles and hybrid nature-based approaches while meeting regulations; oversees a peninsula-wide foreshore bio-inventory assessment; and is developing an offsetting “habitat ledger” to support upcoming permits (e.g., DFO Fisheries Act Authorization).
